In core9000 two players have to defend their “cores” by turning their shields into the right direction. Projectiles continually will be fired from each core into the direction of the other. As the shields are vulnerable on the “inside”, the players also have to watch their own projectiles.
I made core9000 in two days during the Ludum Dare game jam, the theme of which was Minimalism. The game is visually inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s 2001 – Space Odyssey. The minimalistic design of the movie was carried over to the game by just using circles and two colors for the game elements.
